Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra – Classical Music on the Square

Orchestral Encounters for young audiences

Under the direction of maestro Grigory Krasko, the concert of Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra titled Classical Music on the Square was held on September 21st at 21h, at the Independence Square in Podgorica (Montenegro), as the closing event of Podgorica Summer 2016. The concert program included some of the most popular pieces of the classical music repertoare such as: Overture to the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila by Michail Ivanovich Glinka, excerption from the ballet Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Spartacus and Gayane by Aram Khachaturian, Hungarian Dance no.5 by Johannes Brahms, Slavonic Dance no.1 by Antonín Dvořák, Dance by Borislav Tamindžić, Farandola from the orchestral suite L’Arlésienne by Georges Bizet and Montenegrin songs arranged by the Montenegrin composer Žarko Mirković. The concert was attended by around 1000 visitors, mostly young audience (primary and secondary school age) and their parents, heterogenious audience who was informed about the concert throught the media, as well as the random passers on the central square in Podgorica.
