Symphony n°5 MAHLER
Conductor Alexandre Bloch
Mahler’s 5th Symphony is the keystone in the composer’s creation. The work opens with a frantic funeral march, some of the darkest writing left by the Austrian, carrying the overtones of his severely impaired health. As soon as the Scherzo starts to sound though, an exhilarating battle for life opens, culminating in the glorious chorale of the Rondo Finale.
