L’Auditori presents a concert for piano and orchestra with jazz legend Brad Mehldau and the OSB. A collaboration by institutions including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Jazz Festival, as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Barcelona International Jazz Festival. This work make us forget about any idea of a border between genres, in an unlimited exploration of the sounds that continuously nourish the mind and the senses of Brad Mehldau.
The show has been rounded off with a solo by Mehldau in the main section, and an opening with the Suite from Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-winning film There Will Be Blood, with original soundtrack by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.
This work was co-commissioned by Orchestre national d’Île-de-France and Jazz à la Villette Festival, L’Auditori de Barcelona, The Witold Lutoslawski National Forum of Music, Wroclaw, Poland (Jazztopad Festival), The Barbican Centre London and Britten Sinfonia, and Philharmonie Luxembourg and Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, Gustavo Dudamel Artistic Director.
